After almost two years of hoping, reorganizing our resources, researching, and waiting, Grace Presbyterian Church is delighted to introduce the new senior pastor, the Rev. Mark Burnham.  At the beginning of April, 2020 he and his family moved from his previous church in New Jersey at this uncertain time of pandemic and shelter in place. Mark officially began his role as pastor on Wednesday, April 15. 

Mark, a native East Coaster obtained his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College in New York and a Masters of International Business degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. He and his wife Pat moved to California where he worked in finance in the Silicon Valley. During that time Mark and Pat attended Trinity Presbyterian Church in Santa Cruz, CA. With the support of the church, Mark explored the call to ordained ministry.  He attended and graduated from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA.  His extensive career has led him to serve in Associate and Senior Pastor roles in both small and large churches in Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, California, New Jersey and now back to California.

Rev. Dr. Karen Hastings-Flegel

In 2011, Karen was a pastoral intern at Grace. During that time, she worked with Pastor Roger Reaber and then Associate Pastor Charie Reid in various aspects of ministry, including preaching, pastoral care, and teaching adult classes. She joined the church staff in 2015 as Music Director and on September 24, 2016, she was installed as the Designated Associate Pastor of Music and Pastoral Care at Grace Presbyterian Church.

Karen was born in Chigaco, IL. Her early passion for music eventually led her to earn a M.A. in organ music at San José State. At age twenty-two, she traveled to Paris to study with organist/composer, Jean Langlais.  She returned to California, where she earned a D.M.A. (Doctor of Musical Arts) degree in organ at Stanford University. Karen heard a call to pastoral ministry which led to her Master of Divinity degree from the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. In addition, she has a Master of Arts in Biblical Languages degree from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley.

Karen is passionate about music ministry and has served in numerous leadership roles at a number of churches throughout the Bay Area. She was university organist, carillonneur, and adjunct professor of organ and harpsichord at University of the Pacific in Stockton from 1991-1996. From 2008-2013, she served on the prestigious Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song (PCOCS), which chose the contents of the most recent Presbyterian hymnal, Glory to God, which is used in Presbyterian Churches throughout the United States.

Judy Williams, Office Manager

A Bay Area native, Judy has worked for Grace Presbyterian Church since April of 2007. She manages the administrative functions of the church and in addition, she is the contact person for room reservation/rental at the church and oversees maintenance and custodial services.  Judy has a Bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University. With her background in corporate america and years of prior experience in the print/graphics industry she brings this knowledge into the design and production of all of the printed publications for the church. The communications hub for the church, she updates the church website and creates the Constant Contact marketing messages.

Linda Neyer, Treasurer

Linda Neyer is the volunteer Treasurer for Grace Presbyterian Church. She has a long history with the church. Her father, the Rev. Bill Llewellyn was a parish associate with the church. Linda, who is retired after many years of financial management experience with large corporations, has been instrumental in modernizing church financial and administrative operations. She continues to have an active advisory and leadership role in the management of the church.

Geri Rentz, Assistant Treasurer

Geri has an extensive professional background in Banking and corporate management. In her volunteer position, she handles the accounts receivable and accounts payable for Grace Presbyterian Church. In addition, Geri lends herself to other leadership responsibilities for the church.

A native of Walnut Creek, Jennifer grew up at Grace Presbyterian Church. She handles the pledge and financial records for the church.
